While reading several blogs today,
I decided that I don’t wanna look back at 2012,
I wanna look what’s ahead of me…
So today I took inventory of what I need to finish asap…
* Fair isle socks
Not bad 🙂
Still looking for my quilting ruler and rotary cutter too…after our move a month ago it “disappeared” 😦
So now it’s time to say:

Hubby was home over the weekend so I try to work less and devote my time to my little family…I did work on some sample knitting for my new patterns. I personally like to offer you my patterns worked up in at least two or more different color combinations, so you can see the possibilities. Downside is that it takes me a little longer before I release my patterns but I think it’s worth it 😀
These two I made for fun a few weeks ago…
Lately, I have been using my iPad a lot for writing my blogposts the night before I am posting them. The hard part is “writing” for me…I forget what I wanna share but I found a solution: this awesome application called “sticky notes” in the iTunes Store for free and it’s like my brain get a break…I can easily write quick sticky notes during the day and at night I can look at the app what I can use to write about here on my blog. No more forgetting!!! 🙂 You have several colors to choose from and you can adjust the font and font size. Did I tell u it’s FREE??? Yes, it’s free!!! I give it 5 stars!!!
It’s still over 100 degrees Fahrenheit here in the SoCal desert, so I rather stay inside working or in the pool. I don’t mind the dry heat but there are days that it exhausts me to deal with it…ah well, my hand dyed fibers dry in a few hours and that is just great!!!
Every morning when I let the puppy run outside in the yard, I look at the miniature cactus that I bought at the 99ct store 2years ago and that now stands approx. 6ft tall (just like me). It amazes me who fast it grows…let me share a picture of my 99ct cactus…
I have several more of these 99ct cacti in our yard and they all are growing like weed 😀
So today there was dyeing planned so in the next few days I will put up the new colored fibers in my Etsy Shop. I dyed a bunch of sock yarns and worsted weight yarns too for the mini skeins. I love how these mini skeins look and I have some of them pinned to my memo board to cheer me up:
The mini skeins, sold in my Etsy Shop BeautifulYeahYarns, are loved by those who are working on the hexipuff quilt (beekeepers quilt) and those who do color work 🙂 I just wish I had more time to make such a big quilt…but I have my other 2 crochet blankets that I need to finish. (See post crochet blankets)
I get really inspired by the whole yarn bombing mania so when I have time this week I will try to visit some thrift stores and look for a footstool that needs some fiber TLC makeover. Of course I will post about it here on my blog!!!
See, those sticky notes are really working better for me, I have a bit more text than usual 😀 Now I’m going to relax for a few minutes and prepare dinner for my hubby… Thank you all for reading and commenting on my blog posts…I must be writing about things that interest more people 🙂
Oh one more thing: Halos of Hope Fundraiser…go check it out and support the charity by reading this post!!! It’s a charity that helps out cancer patients… Thank you Benjamin Levisay (XRX) and Pam Haschke (Halos of Hope) for reminding me!!! You have my support!!! 😀
Goodnight everyone, sweet dreams and stay healthy!!! And stay creative!!!

Book review for:
“Mastering Color Knitting” by Melissa Leapman
Since I started knitting at the age of 5yr, I was always fascinated by the color knitting my grandmother did in practically all the knitting and crochet projects that she tackled. She was my teacher and kept me highly motivated to keep knitting/crocheting and never to give up. Well…it worked, it became my first love but I have to tell you that being born in Europe helps too, where color knitting is something that is known for all the beautiful sweaters in Fair Isle/Intarsia and so on 🙂
Think about the (fisherman) sweaters alone…and those stunning colored socks, bags and hats…yummy!!!
So I decided to give this beautiful book, that deserves a review, from Melissa Leapman about Mastering Color Knitting.
She will then go to show and teach you: stranded knitting (Fair Isle), intarsia and reversable two color knitting. All these subjects have clear instructions, patterns to make gorgeous color knitting projects that will take you to the next level. Even if you have never done any color knitting project, this book is a really great guideline to start you on a new or old love for color knitting.
Further in the book Melissa has over 200 new original stitch patterns and a total of 12 projects to get you ready to try your color knitting skills. Don’t be put off by sewing in the ends but see the final results of your color work. It’s is so worth it!!! I have made many many projects in the past that I have started designing color knits, simply because I think it’s an absolute eyecatcher.
It doesn’t matter if you are a Continental style knitter or a British (throwing method) style knitter, it just takes practise like everything else. Myself, I like to knit Continental but that is since that was what my grandma taught me…I can do both but I prefer to hold my strand(s) the continental way using either my left or right hand supporting the strands.
Back to the book, the instructions are simple and she even included a designer workshop for color knitting 😀
A PERFECT ALL ROUND COLOR KNITTING BOOK that I simply LOVE!!!
Thank you Melissa for putting Color Knitting in the spotlight!

Great ART BATTS hand dyed (by me, of course) creating beautiful colors and using many different fibers. Check out the listings in my Etsy store, BeautifulYeah, for descriptions and colors.
These art batts have been carded only once to keep the locks intact as much as possible and to let you spin a beautifulYEAH textured art yarn.
Each art batt weighs 1-1.2 oz and will spin into a beautiful art yarn 🙂
I can always make you bigger batts, just ask me 😀
These art yarns made from art batts I made on my drum carder and spun up on my spinning wheel.
These beautiful fall colors are hand spun into a coreless yarn from hand dyed woolblends, mohair locks, nebbs, angelina and a silver thread to spark it up with a lot of texture! It has really tiny green wool balls felted into the yarn but may shed a few while working with it…no worries the yarn will not fall apart 😀
This is also a coreless hand spun yarn from hand dyed wool, mohair locks, nebbs, angelina and a green thread to spark it up with a lot of texture!
There are many more listed in my BeautifulYeah shop on Etsy…I do not dry my yarns under tension since when the buyer wets the yarn after they finished their project it will be a mess. My yarns get a bath after spinning, a “whack” to set the tension and hung without weights to dry since it’s an art yarn and I like it to do whatever it wants to do…my yarns are free!!! 😀
Remember, you can always contact me for more information or for special (dye) orders.
